Zixiao Yuan (Zi), one of the organizers of day-trip project, said that for everyone’s health and safety, the day-trip project will be cancelled in few coming months until the virus improve. Frankly, the situation in the UK doesn’t look very well right now, and he suggests minimizing unnecessary travel during the epidemic.

The original purpose of day-trip is to enable international freshmen to learn more about Britain through tourism, and also to make them quickly make friends with the same interests. According to Zi, for now, their main audience is Chinese students. However, Zi told me that all international and local students can join, not just Chinese students.

By the survey, the most popular places with the most participants are Highland, Lake District, and Glasgow. As usual, the determination of travel destinations and time are based on seasonal climate and solicitation of interest of students. They can receive the feedback about the trips by questionnaire. If the day-trip project is open, students will be notified by email or social media and they can register by contacting person in charge.
Due to the long-term organization of day trips, the tourism department has also summarized some of the tips and advice for some people who still want to have day-trip in the UK during Easter holiday.
- Go to places with few confirmed cases
- Keep an eye on the number of cases published by the NHS
- Wash your hands frequently and long enough
- Try not to touch anything
- Try not to go to crowded places
- Reduce face-to-face contact with strangers
Under security, if the project reopens, they will notify via email and announce on social media. In the future, more tourist routes will be developed to bring you a better experience.
